Costa Rica is becoming more and more popular as a tourist destination for North Americans. And even, going further than that, many Americans and Canadians decide to either retire there or just live a more laid back life in the sun there. In fact Costa Rica has the largest population of North Americans outside North America!! Not only is the lifestyle great but the food in restaurants in Costa Rica is often quite superb.
It’s not hard to comprehend why North Americans love coming here. First of all there is the wonderful tropical climate all year round. The scenery is truly spectacular with the Pacific Ocean on the west and the Caribbean Sea on the east. The countryside itself is very diverse with rainforest, hills, volcanoes and the variety of wild life is also stunning.
There are many great hotels, both in the capital of San Jose, as well as all major towns and also on the coast. Eating out is almost always a pleasure.
The food here is mostly organic and very very fresh. Whether you are enjoying breakfast with fresh tropical fruit picked nearby or the local organic coffee, or a classy dinner with fresh seafood, restaurants, like the country, are very diverse and often spectacular!
It is really safe to say that most places that have tourists have great restaurants too. You can go to many restaurants that are very similar in look to those in North America. There are also local diners, called ‘sodas’ where the food is also good but it’s more basic and knowing some Spanish would be a help!
In Jaco on the west coast, for example, there is a typical soda where you can get breakfast for around $3. The food is great, buffet style so you can just take it. On the other hand Jaco has more exclusive type restaurants with beautiful décor and wonderful food. There is even a Mexican style restaurant that looked very North American but the food had a Costa Rican flair. There is so much choice and Jaco is a well known tourist town but really it’s not that big.
We found the same wherever we went. Manuel Antonio is on the coast as well but has a lot of night life too so there are bars and clubs. The restaurants were also really great.
If you go to large towns like Liberia, you will also find quite a variety. However, this isn’t really a tourist town (like Alajuela or San Jose) so things are more local Costa Rican.
To sum it up, restaurants in Costa Rica are very varied. Almost always the food is excellent, very fresh and often organic. Eating out is definitely one of the many highlights of Costa Rica.

Boasting approximately 50 countries to discover and offering up a diverse selection of cultures and landscapes, Europe is filled with a number of remarkable cities and stunning stretches of wilderness. Cited as the birthplace of western culture, it forms one of the seven continents of the world and is surrounded by the Arctic and Atlantic Oceans, and the Mediterranean and Black Seas.
Due to its close proximity to the UK, Europe is an ideal travel destination for those looking to escape on a short break. Indeed, offering up a number of different locations, all sited within a few hours of Britain, there’s a wealth of exciting cities and environments to explore.
With so much to choose from, though, it can be hard work figuring out which part of Europe to head to. However, offering up some of the best cultural treats in the world, as well as a superb range of iconic landmarks and sights of interest, the major capital cities are a great starting point.
The world’s top tourist destination, Paris is a definite must-see. Home to a huge array of cultural attractions like the Louvre and Eiffel Tower, the French capital also offers up a packed annual events programme. Due to its unique charm and famous sights, over 30 million people flock there each year.
Amsterdam, on the other hand, is ideal for those looking to take some time out and escape from the hustle and bustle of the larger cities. Filled with a jumble of canals, parks and quirky architecture, there’s a lot to discover in this historical capital city. The Museum Square is the site of Amsterdam’s most influential museums and, as such, is well worth visiting.
When you go to book your trip to Europe, whether it be to one of its lively capital cities or a more remote part of the countryside, there are a number of travel options to chose from such as flying, driving, or taking the ferry. However, because of the advantages to be had, it can often be a good idea to travel by train.
In fact, eliminating the need for having to make stressful travel arrangements, the train can help you to maximise your holiday time. For example, you can choose to travel by day, where you’ll get the opportunity to soak up the stunning scenery as you journey throughout Europe, or at night, where you can sleep in comfort and arrive at your destination fully-refreshed.
Not only that, but with a lot of the trains reaching speeds of up to 186 mph, you can reach many parts of the continent within a few hours of leaving the UK.
Owing to the many enticing Europe travel deals on offer, millions of people head there every year. There’s a wealth of cultures and landscapes to explore and with accessible travel options like the train to choose from, everyone has the opportunity to discover all that’s on offer, regardless of whether they’re looking for a luxury or budget holiday.

If you will be near Universal Studios on your next
business trip or vacation, you should definitely make
time for a Universal Studios Tour. This will not only
provide you with a day filled with fun and excitement
but you will also get a behind the scenes look at
what it really takes to produce the Movies that we
all wait anxiously to see.
If you are really interested in the world of movie
making, don’t miss the Universal Studios Tour. The
tour takes about one hour, and you will visit the sets
of many famous movies and television shows. You
will see the stars dressing rooms, and you may even
run into a star or two along the way, or get to see an
outdoors filming session in progress.
The Special Effects Stage, located inside the park,
is another attraction you won’t want to miss. Here,
you will learn how Hollywood creatures are made,
how sound effects are produced, and how visual
affects are designed and implemented. This is an
interactive attraction, and it only takes about thirty
minutes to go all the way through it. Even though it
doesn’t last long, there is a lot of information to be
learned here – quickly! The interaction with the
visitors makes this one of the most popular
attractions at the park.
For the most exclusive and personalized look behind
the scenes, you should definitely consider purchasing
a VIP Studios Pass. This pass costs under $150 for
one person, and it is worth every penny! This will
entitle you to a private tour of Universal Studios, and
you will be allowed in areas that standard tour visitors
won’t see. You will also have the right to move right to
the front of the line for all rides and attractions with the
VIP pass. VIP passes can be purchased online, by
telephone, or at the park – but they are limited to a
certain number of VIP passes that are issued per day,
so get yours as soon as possible.
Universal Studios is more than an amusement park,
it is an interesting and amazing learning experience
that you will never forget – no matter what age you
are. The next time you watch an action movie, you
won’t think ‘how did they do that?’ You will already
have some idea as to how those special effects
were created! You may even get so much out of
your Universal Studios Tour experience that you
think of ways that you could have done it better!

Situated to the south east of Birmingham, Coventry is one of the biggest cities in England. It shouldn’t come as a big surprise then to learn that it has countless shops and outlets to visit if you feel the need to spend some money.
The West Orchards Shopping Centre always draws big crowds, typically made from people who are visiting the area as well as those who live there. It is packed with all the famous name shops you would expect to find in such a centre, and it also has the bonus of being undercover so you don’t have to worry about what the weather is doing outside.
It also has plenty of eateries and restaurants to arouse your taste buds once you’ve been shopping for a while and worked up an appetite. The Food Court is dedicated to making sure you can get rid of those hunger pangs before heading back to the shops once more.
If you enjoy browsing round fashion outlets and good bargains are on your list of things to buy, make sure you visit the Lower Precinct Shopping Centre. This is very popular among visitors and it has two floors to keep you busy for hours.
The venue itself is quite compact and square shaped, so everything is easy to find and gain access to. There is also the added bonus of having the Coventry Indoor Market close by as well, so you are getting two great shopping experiences in one.
Of course some stores are bigger than others, and there are few bigger than Ikea, which has opened in Coventry. The store is set just off Croft Road inside the ring road, so it has easy access no matter how you choose to get there.
This is one store that offers virtually a whole day out shopping experience if you choose. With breakfast available first thing and a showroom and market place to look round, you can guarantee that you’ll be spending plenty of time dreaming about all the things you could buy. Not to mention actually going ahead and buying a few things of course!
Perhaps one of the best shopping experiences of all is the one to be found in Spon Street. This often takes the name of Mediaeval Spon Street, and when you first see it you will discover why.
There are plenty of modern and individual shops here, but they are the latest in a long line of shops that have been here throughout several centuries. Even in the 1100s the area was thriving with people going about their daily work.
If you are planning on having a shopping weekend in Coventry, make sure you stay in one of the hotels in Coventry. That way you will be right in the middle of the best shopping experiences the city has to offer.

A Win-Win Solution
For those of you visiting the London Olympics and Paralympics, in 2012, and looking for somewhere convenient to stay, the county of Essex certainly ticks all the right boxes.
The Savvy Alternative
Let’s face it, all types of accommodation are likely to be in very short supply (and expensive!) in the whole of the London area during the Olympics and Paralympics.
So, the county of Essex is the obvious alternative area to stay. For a start, being so close to East London, Essex makes an ideal base for visiting the Games. What’s more, it offers a wide variety of value-for-money, quality accommodation in locations that are surprisingly convenient for visiting all the various Olympic and Paralympic events.
Benefits of Being Essex Based
Visitors to the London Olympics would do well to consider the many benefits of basing themselves in Essex for the duration of the Games. Plus points include: reasonable proximity to event venues (the mounting biking events are actually being held in Essex – so how much more convenient does it get!); excellent transport links (see information below); not to mention the wide selection of different types of accommodation, with something to suit all tastes and budgets; great places to eat and drink, etc., etc.
Olympic Accommodation Options in Essex
Welcome to Essex – the county with a fine reputation for its hospitality and for welcoming visitors from far and wide! But, don’t just take our word for it – check out your accommodation options, right here at the Essex Tourist Guide website. Whatever type of accommodation you have in mind, chances are we can match your requirements.
Bed & Breakfast
B&B accommodation is widely available in a variety of locations throughout the county of Essex. Everything can be found from traditional seaside B&Bs in Southend and Clacton to farmhouse B&Bs in the Essex countryside, not forgetting B&Bs conveniently located for access to the M25 and the Essex stations of the London Underground network.
Essex Guest Houses
Modern guest houses offer excellent facilities at moderate prices and the county of Essex boasts some of the best. A good example is The Terrace Guest House in Southend on Sea which is convenient for the Olympic mountain biking events at Hadleigh Farm as well as offering access to a fast rail connection to all the Olympic venues in London.
Hotels and Inns
Essex has a wide choice of hotels and inns which are ideal for visitors to the Olympics and Paralympics. Everything from exclusive country house hotels and traditional inns which combine character with comfort to modern hotels with all the necessary facilities can be found in the county of Essex.
Holiday Parks
Why not combine your trip to the London Olympics with a seaside holiday? Holiday caravan parks like Cosway Holiday Home Park in East Mersea near Colchester and Homestead Lake Park near Clacton offer the best of both worlds, combining value for money accommodation with easy access to transport links to the Olympic venues in London.
Camp Sites
Camp sites are located throughout Essex. Places to camp that are convenient for Olympic and Paralympic spectators include Billericay, Braintree, Loughton, Maldon and Romford. Even more camping options are available for people willing to look slightly further afield.
Olympic and Paralympic Venues
The Olympic Stadium and several other venues including the Aquatics Centre (for swimming, diving and water polo) and the Velopark (indoor velodrome and outdoor BMX track) are located in East London at the new 500 acre (2 sq km) Olympic Park in Stratford and the lower Lea Valley. More Olympic and Paralympic venues are to be found in other parts of the capital and beyond. In fact, Essex will be hosting the Olympic mountain biking at Hadleigh Farm, between Basildon and Southend on Sea.
Rail Links to Olympic Park
During the Games, more than 80 percent of visitors to the Olympic Park are expected to travel by train, either to Stratford Regional station or to Stratford International station, both of which are located within the Olympic Park.
Train services from all parts of Essex to Stratford Regional station are available for travellers to the Olympic Park. Trains from Stansted Airport, Braintree, Clacton, Southend, Ilford, Romford, Brentwood, Shenfield, Chelmsford and Colchester will transport passengers to the heart of the Olympic action. In addition, London Underground services from the Essex towns of Epping, Hainault and Woodford also go to Stratford Regional station.
Air Links to Olympic Park
Essex offers a choice of two airports for visitors to the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Stansted Airport is Britain’s third busiest airport, with flights to and from more than 160 destinations worldwide. Southend Airport offers a range of charter air services and air taxis. It also offers helicopter services to and from London Heliport and Canary Wharf and is likely to be running services directly to the Olympic Park during the Olympics and Paralympics in 2012.
Road Links to Olympic Park
Essex has excellent road links to the Olympic Park. The A12, A13, A118 and A124 trunk roads all connect Essex to Stratford. Stansted Airport also has good road communication with the Olympic Park via the M11 motorway and the A12.
Transport Links to Hadleigh Farm
The Olympic mountain biking events have been allocated to Hadleigh Farm in Essex, after the mountain biking venue in Kent that had been chosen originally was deemed to be ‘insufficiently challenging’ for Olympic competition. The Hadleigh Farm mountain biking site offers steep grassy slopes close to the ruins of Hadleigh Castle, which should provide an excellent spectacle for both cyclists and spectators alike.
Hadleigh Farm is easily accessible as the rail line between London Fenchurch Street and Southend passes close to this venue; Leigh on Sea and Benfleet stations are the nearest stations to Hadleigh Farm.
Alternatively, road access to the site is via the M25 and A13. Ample car parking is available at the Hadleigh Farm venue. In addition, a number of bus companies including Arriva Southend and First Essex run buses to the site.

If you are planning a visit to Italy, surely you want to design your trip in such a way as to dedicate your vacation to discovering the most beautiful and characteristic places and areas of this country, like Florence, Venice, Rome, the Amalfi Coast, Pompeii…
Which solution would you use to discover the beauty of Italy in absolute tranquility and relaxation and at the same time in maximum comfort? Prestige Rent has the answer - an agency in Florence, specialized in private tours and excursions with guided visits to all places in Italy, putting at your disposal comfortable vehicles, guaranteed for their safety, with private drivers who can competently bring you wherever you’d like to go for the duration of your vacation in Italy.
What are the advantages?
Personalize on the spot, at the moment of your excursion deciding for example, with complete flexibility, to lengthen your stay in a town that you particularly like or to drive to a place of your choice using a panoramic, secondary road instead of the highway.
The driver, besides speaking your own language fluently, is also able to help you visit places not merely as a tourist, but as a local, giving you suggestions for typical restaurants where you can taste wonderful Italian food, or offer you the possibility to enjoy shopping at famous, Italian designer outlets, like Gucci and Prada.
For guests with limited mobility, with Prestige Rent you will have the possibility to access all places, even the pedestrian zones of the cities that are normally closed to traffic and only accessible on foot.
Besides experiencing a different and unique way of visiting Italy, you will also have the possibility of maximizing your time in order to not waste a moment in getting to discover and know this wonderful country. For instance if you arrive at the Rome airport in the morning and you are embarking on a cruise of the Mediterranean from Civitavecchia or Livorno in the evening, what better occasion to visit the Vatican Museums and Roman monuments besides other places that are found along the drive that you must take to reach your ship? Prestige Rent’s driver will take special care to accompany you on your transfer, helping you to avoid stress, problems with luggage, and above all making sure that you can have fun and relax.
At this point you are probably saying to yourself, “A personalized tour in Italy is really interesting but… how much will it cost?” Much less than you can imagine, keeping in mind that you would have about 35% more time compared to a normal organized tour, because of the absolute flexibility of our service compared to a bus tour. Buses in fact need to park far from the historic centers, forcing tourists to walk to the center while wasting a large amount of time and energy. To have an idea of how competitive our prices are, try asking for example your cruise line for the prices of the private shore excursions they offer. If their prices are less than ours, Prestige Rent…..will offer your tour free of charge!
