Trigger Point Therapy:Fact or Fiction

November 30, 2009 by
Filed under Fast Weight Lose

According to those who accept the underlying premises of trigger point therapy, your most recent headache may have had absolutely nothing to do with your head.  Instead, it may have been caused by clenched sarcomere near some other part of your body. This is just one of the many variations of massage therapy out there.

Trigger point therapy argues that our pain originates from clenched sarcomere.  Sarcomere are microscopic elements of body charged with the responsibility of creating the links necessary for muscle contraction.  While the sarcomere are supposed to release when the contraction of a muscle completes, some don’t.  They remain contracted and create small muscular knots.

Trigger point therapy advocates maintain that those little nodes created by the unclenched sarcomere are the root cause of most of the pain we experience.  They also maintain that we can untie these muscular knots via the direct application of massage and pressure.  They knots are “trigger points” for pain release.

That would seem, at face value, to lend itself to a relatively simple method of pain reduction.  One would need only isolate the area experiencing discomfort and would then need to apply the requisite pressure to the trigger point located at the nexus of the pain.  A basic massage applied to the vicinity of the trigger point would be enough to make one feel considerably more comfortable.

Trigger point therapy isn’t quite that simple, however.  That’s because, according to its adherents, the defining characteristic of these trigger points is their ability to refer pain.  The trigger points transmit the pain associated with knotted sarcomere to other parts of the body.  Thus, one needs to determine the location of these trigger points independent of the area experiencing discomfort.

These referred pains are quite significant, too, according to those who back trigger point therapy.  They cite research showing that these referred pains may account for as much as 75% of the discomfort we experience.  Thus, those who accept the theory will argue that the search for trigger points and their manipulation is a very worthwhile process even if they are difficult to initially isolate.

In fact, some have gone so far as to argue that all pain has at least some linkage to sarcomere knot trigger points located throughout the body.  Everything from arthritis to fibromyalgia to tendonitis can be traced back to the myofascial disruptions termed trigger points.

Trigger point theory isn’t widely accepted in the medical community.  The evidence upon which its adherents rely is questioned and the idea that microscopic muscle knots could cause significant levels of referred pain is dismissed by most in the mainstream medical community.  That being said, practitioners of trigger point therapy and many who have undergone treatments based on its theories have reported reductions in pain levels.

If this is a treatment you would like to try then why not see if you can get covered for it by getting health insurance ireland.

How To Choose The Right Winter Vacation Spot

November 30, 2009 by
Filed under Fast Weight Lose

There are so many people that head out on winter vacations every year to either get away from the cold weather, get away from too many family dinners, or just get away.  But with all of the beautiful winter vacation destinations out there, how do you pick the right one for your family to enjoy?  It can be an overwhelming task, and one that you shouldn’t take lightly either.  Keep in mind that if you pick the wrong winter vacation spot, you will have a disasterous time, yet choose the right one and your family will have the vacation of a lifetime.  To help you determine where your next winter vacation should be, let’s go through some simple questions and tips to narrow down your choices:

1. Budget: This is the first area that you need to nail down when starting your search for a winter vacation destination.  Know how much you have to spend and what you want to spend on your winter getaway and you can easily narrow down choices by knocking some more expensive ones off of your list.  Plus, you’ll be able to determine how far you can travel and what type of vacation rentals and activities you can enjoy.
2. Family Likes & Dislikes: Yet another biggie.  You don’t want to book a cruise when your family is afraid of water, so you need to know exactly what their likes and dislikes are when it comes to vacation activities and so forth.  If you aren’t sure, it’s ok to have everyone sit down and talk about what they want to do and what they don’t want to do on your winter vacation.  This way, you can narrow down your choices again by simply ruling out those areas where there are more dislikes than likes.
3. Activities: When you have a few areas in mind for your winter vacation destinations, check into what activities are around for you to enjoy at that time of year.  For example, if you want to go diving, can you?  If you want to go to amusement parks, are they open?  If you want to go snow skiing, are the slopes good?  There are so many factors that go into finding the right winter vacation spot that has the activities that you all want to do so make sure that you do your homework on this part of your winter vacation destination.
4. Accomodations: Now that you’ve narrowed it down a bit more on where you want to go and what you want to do on your winter getaway, let’s chat about accomodations.  Resorts and hotels are going to be expensive as all getout during winter vacation peak times, so what do you do?  Easy, you check into vacation home rentals in that area before you even consider booking anything else.  Vacation home rentals can offer your family so much more that you would never get at a hotel - such as hot tubs, pools, video game consoles, private beaches, and more.  Plus, you have your own kitchen to save on money from eating out constantly and you don’t have housekeeping knocking your door in at 7 am.

Once you have used these four simple tips to help you narrow down your winter vacation areas for your family trip, you should easily be able to pick between the few destinations on your list to ensure that youahve the best family winter vacation possible.  When you’re ready to check out thousands of great vacation home rentals, ReserveMy Home offers some of the very best ones possible in all areas of the US and some beautiful warm island destinations.  Don’t book your winter vacation until you have taken the time to really plan it out and find that perfect spot for you and your family.

Up from Northamptonshire to Tewkesbury the River Avon passes many beauties and impressive landscapes and structuers but among all the others, the Warwick Castle stands up gloriously.  To an observer it seems as if these two natural elements constantly complement each other, Avon on beauty and the castle on strength.
Built by William the Conqueror it was supposed to serve as a defense base for the area but fate had another plans for it. The castle was used as a prison in its lifetime frequently. The most famous prisoner that was held in it was Edward IV king of England along with his wife Margaret of Anjou.

Nowadays most of castles and fortifications seem to be out of their initial purpose and they only act as historic places for attracting curios tourists but The Castle of Warwick has managed to play a more important rule, it has become residence of ghosts. It is said that the castle has been haunt by Sir Fulke Greville. Fulke, a poet, was very keen on the castle and spent a lot to restore it and for some reasons it turned one of the servant furious, he believe that their master paid a lot more attention to the castle but not enough to him. In anger stabbed the master and in a short while turned the knife back to himself and committed suicide. It is said that since then there has been many unexplainable incidents that leaves no option expect believing that the castle is hunted.

The Warwick Castle is enormous. As any fortress is enclosed inside a thick and tall wall with six towers which were used not only for monitoring any suspicious movement around it but also as prisons.  Bear and Clarence towers monitor the main entrance, Guy’s and Caesar towers are residential with a dungeon in the basement of Caesar tower.

A full access ticket costs around £22 at the time of writing this article which is quite a reasonable price for such adventure. With easy access, low admission price and plenty of places to rest and eat the Castle of Warwick invites everybody for once in a life time experience.

Cape Town hotels are varied and cater for a variety of discerning travelers from all walks of life. Booking into your Cape Town accommodation you can expect lavish attention to detail, stunning locations, magnificent views, superb service and, now, ravishing rooftop trailer parks…?

The Grand Daddy hotel is located on Cape Town’s renowned Long Street and has long been famous for pushing the envelope with regard to luxury lodging and the many stereotypes associated therewith. As such, the formidable creative force behind this avant garde accommodation establishment decided to treat the public to yet another brain-blasting innovation in 2008, when they cut the ribbon to the Airstream Penthouse Trailer Park and forever turned the notion of luxury Cape Town accommodation on its head.

So, here’s the recipe the Grand Daddy team followed to achieve this accommodation sensation:

1. Rustle up seven iconic American Airstream trailers.

2. Gather up 11 of Cape Town’s most creative individuals and give them creative freedom.

3. Allow them to go to town on said American Airstream trailers.

4. Close your eyes and hope for the best.

5. Cut the ribbon and allow the public to venture down the proverbial Rabbit Hole.

What resulted was an accommodation venue that blew the socks off of even the most jaded of hotel goers. Each of the seven trailers emerged from its ordeal with its dedicated design team with imaginative interiors, air conditioning, hot and cold running water, flushing toilets and showers. The themes of the seven trailers are as follows:

* Afro-Funk by Carla Soudien.

* Love of Lace by Tracy Lynch.

* Dorothy by Sarah Pratt.

* Goldilocks and the 3 Bears by Mark and Joe Stead.

* The Ballad of John & Yoko by Tamsin Relly, Cara Rosa and Chloe Townsend.

* Pleasantville by Liam Mooney.

* Earthcote Moontides Airstream by Susan Woodley and Brigitte Dewberry.

Tempting as it may be to go into the incredible details of each trailer’s interior (just imagine the plethora of adjectives that could be used!); it really is best viewed on the Grand Daddy’s site. A picture speaks a thousand words, after all. Suffice it to say, if you are in the market for an accommodation experience that is more post-modern than it is predictable, the Airstream Penthouse Trailer Park is the way to go. Perfect for eccentric couples, off-beat families and unconventional singles alike, you can rest assured that your stay at this glitzy trailer park will most certainly leave a lasting impression.
